This gateway m460e laptop is a bit older, but nevertheless still nicely working piece of equipment with 2GB of RAM, windows xp, 160GB hard drive space and Intel Celeron processor.
Client called us, complaining the laptop was not charging or getting any signs of life. After several minutes on the phone, we couldn’t really diagnose the problem without seeing the laptop, however we made a pretty brave guess that its going to be the power jack or (dc jack) failure, since client said it, there was some movement when you plug the adapter into it.
To us, it was good enough sign, that dc jack was broken. For the client it wasn’t. But hey who are you gonna believe? the computer user or the experts who have their noses to the grindstone with problems like this every day.
So we went ahead set appointment went to clients house, determined it was dc jack problem. But the client still wasn’t convinced. 🙂 I guess some people really have to see it to believe it.
Couple days later the power jack for gateway m460e came in and we replaced it at the customers location in about 1.5 hours. Wow. what a turnaround time. and were talking here taking the whole thing apart into pieces and soldering the dc jack in with the soldering gun. talk about professionalism 🙂
Anyway, long story short, customer was very happy, although still abit skeptical after the computer was on and working 🙂 I guess some people see it and still can’t believe it 🙂 oh well we’re computer experts not psychologists. and our work here was done!
